Interview with Mr Gunning
(Stakesby Schools new Headteacher)
 
On April 23rd, 2009, Jodie and Nathanael, (members of the web-team) interviewed the new headteacher of Stakesby School, Mr Gunning.

Q. Do you have any pets and what are they called?
A. Yes, I have 2 dogs- Berty and Teddy, 2 cats– Pippin and Lily and 2 guinea pigs– Twinkle and Lola.

Q. Why did you want to be the Headteacher at Stakesby School?
A. From the minute I clapped eyes on to the school I thought it was amazing; all the colourful rooms, different outdoor areas, e.g. Millennium Reading Wood, M-U-G-A, the stage, beautiful gardens and lots of activities at playtime.

Q. What is your favourite hobby?
A. My main hobby is playing the Cornet around Scarborough, Whitby and lots of different places.

Q. Who is your family?
A.I have a wife and 3 children. My eldest daughter, Emily is at University. I have two sons, Oliver and Harry who are at Secondary School.

Q. What is your favourite subject?
A. Music

Q. University or not?
A.Yes, I came to Scarborough to train to be a teacher and I have been there ever since.

Q. What did you want to be when you were a child?
A. I was interested in nature, I wanted to be something to do with nature or being outside.

Q. Do you like working with children?
A. Yes, because working with children is always exciting, interesting and unpredictable.

My favourite joke is- ‘Why are pirates, pirates? Because they ARRR!!!
